Chemical Properties Grade 3 Lesson 5

Today we are going to solve our mystery. We are going to make a good informed decision based on our data and not guessing.
Focus Question: How do scientist use data to solve their mysteries? (Discuss with the students and write down their responses.

Prediction: What do you think these mystery items are that we have tested?

Claims and Evidence: Chemicals have unique physical and chemical properties, which help us identify them.

Conclusion: Boys and girls we are going to play a game called "Who am I". (Cut out the statements into stripes and hand one strip to each group. They will read there sentence and figure out which unknown it is. Discuss the prediction they made earlier about their unknowns and compare to the results.) Ask the students to fill out the self-assessment individually. (This is picture below as well as the game sentences.)
